Hilton Head Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2011

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Well folks,
Spring is on it’s way here on Hilton Head Island and what a better way to kick off the warm weather and tourist season that a St. Patrick’s Day parade. The parade will be slated for March 13th and will most likely take the same route along Pope Avenue from Coligny Circle and up around Sea Pines Circle. The event will have around 100 entries and usually brings in 22,000 people. A few things to remember while attending the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Hilton Head Island.

1: Traffic will be closed to Pope Avenue early in the afternoon, get there early or find alternate means of getting to the parade route.

2: Do not park illegally! You will be ticketed and towed (at your expense of course.) A police tow at $300+ dollars and is not a good way to enjoy the festivities.

3: Speaking of fines, there is NO alcohol allowed outside of designate areas. Designated areas refer to bars/restaurants property only! Do not stop off the property, carry an open container (plastic or not) down sidewalks or across the streets. You will be ticketed and it comes in the form of $1000! That is correct.

4: The next point should be obvious but I will mention it because people do get arrested for it. Port o’ potties are not only conveniently placed throughout the parade route and parking lots, but are a must use. Every year there seems to be arrests for people going behind a tree or building. This equals a free ride to Beaufort County jail courtesy of a backseat in a white car, not a yellow one.

Now it is time for the fun beyond the Hilton Head St. Patrick’s Day Parade. If you are going to be a newbie this year, expect a lot of bands. Wild Wings always has a full day event that will go into the late night. Across the street at New York City Pizza and adjacent Remy’s Bar, the parking lot will have bands rockin as well. Take a few steps up to Aunt Chilada’s and there will most likely be live entertainment inside starting after the parade. Look for all the top Bluffton/Hilton Head and surrounding areas bands to be playing. Yes, it will be loud and there will be alot of drinking and partying. Thats why we go and celebrate, right? Speaking of beer, there will be several tents set up in all the parking lots to quench your thirst. OH! and don’t forget about the yards of beer = good!

I will post all the band line-ups once they are available and set in stone so check back or, visit the official nightlife page Hilton Head Island Nightlife Click Here! Hilton Head Island Nightlife website has all the hot places to be and lists all the hot bands. It will keep you informed 24/7/365.
