Staycations, The New Family Fun.
Monday, March 15th, 2010I hear it time and time again. Vacation? Who can afford them? With the economy the way it is, staycations have been the stronghold on family fun. Taking a week off to go on an elaborate getaway to Europe, Italy, Disney, Hawaii, that well needed beach trip, all have been put on the back burner. With the average vacation these days costings 1000′s more than just a decade ago, more families are finding destinations within an hour trip. There is nothing wrong with staycations, by means, it is a vacation without leaving your area code…or even zip code. So if you are on a shoestring budget, have that weeks vacation coming to you. Stay local.
Look around, do you live in an area that many people vacation to? Why cant you do the same? You have the advantage because it is your home town. When I look where I live an think of the possibilities within a few hours drive, Hilton Head Island, Savannah, Charleston, and Jacksonville all come to mind. All these destinations are all within 1 tank of gas. If I want to branch out a little further, I can look at Atlanta, Charlotte, Asheville, Orlando, Wilmington NC to name a few more. Sure I may love near the beach on a day to day basis but, just going to a different one can feel like I am 3000 miles away. Hotel/Motel price can be completely discounted when bought far in advance and for several days in a row. It is in your best interest to plan your staycation like a regular vacation. I have found an Ebook guide that is very helpful on finding things to do and places to see for a staycation. For the price of 2 Burger King meals, you can have some very useful knowledge on how to save 100′s of dollars planning your staycation. Click Here! and read more. You owe it to yourself to have a fun filled/relaxing vacation, even if you don’t leave your home town.
