beach weddings are fast becoming a trend now days. A lot couples want to move away from traditional weddings and have started opting for theme based weddings. And beach wedding is one of the more popular ones. The reasons why beach weddings are popular are that these can be arranged in a relatively shorted duration, can do with less decorations and is comparatively informal than traditional one.

So, you are planning to have a different kind of wedding. Your plan is to take the wedding to a new high which will include having the wedding at the beach. Now that you have made that decision, the next, and obvious question is what beach and where.

Living in Southern California leads you to ask: Is Southern California really the greatest place for beach weddings? With predictable sunny weather all year round, California offers the perfect environment for an outdoor wedding. With a gentle Mediterranean climate, a California beach wedding has much to offer both the bridal party and their guests.

Whether it’s the seaside resort of Laguna Beach, the classic enclaves of yesteryear such as Santa Monica Beach, or the deep blue skies of San Diego, Southern California has much to offer. There are beaches with hotels and resorts nearby to give those demanding guests the creature comforts they desire, as there are those beaches that are remote and fairly inaccessible, for those that want that “way out” spot.

Many of the better known beach resorts actually have hotel/wedding packages that facilitate a beach wedding down to actually catering at the beach wedding site. Not only that but there are many wedding planning agencies that also plan beach weddings from the ceremony down to the reception all on the beach.


The only limitation to your dream California beach wedding will be the cost. If planned through a resort then you will have all of the costing in front of you and all you have to do is show up to the wedding and remember your lines. If you are planning the wedding and reception yourself at the beach, you have to remember that there are special circumstances surrounding having the wedding at the beach that you will have to remember to include in your budget.

The other thing to remember, and this gets overlooked many times, is the fact that the wedding is taking place OUTDOORS – you have to remember that things can change at a drop of a hat when you are outside. It is not uncommon to be in the midst of a sunny and hot day at the beach and have this suddenly change on you to a shower, fog, or other thing that can suddenly change the whole environment of the ceremony. So remember to always be ready – have a tent or at least a heavy canopy, preferably with sides for shelter should a sea breeze kick up at your wedding.
