Hilton Head Island Nightlife

Ahhh, so we are just over half way through the month of January and what a winter we have had. Outside of 10 days of cold temperatures, the weather has been mild and many locals of Hilton Head Island and the mainland (Bluffton) have been enjoying the Island as their home. The Hilton Head Island Nightlife has not rested in the off season and has been gearing up for the busy tourist season that is bearing down starting March 1st. Anyone that lives on Hilton Head Island and it’s surrounding areas knows that tourist season brings 100′s of thousands of tourists seeking warmth, a spring break, beach time, golf, great restaurants, and of course Hilton Head Island Nightlife. When it comes to Hilton Head Island and its nightlife, many travelers don’t think of Hilton Head as being a bustling nightlife kind of place. Many try to compare it to major metro areas and don’t give the 12 X 6 island it’s credit. When you think of it, there are 100′s of restaurants on Hilton Head Island…all of which have bars. Do ya think they just stick to serving some of the best food in the world? Sure they do, but you have to factor in that after dinner, the places start rocking with bands, DJ’s, karaoke, drink specials, social gatherings and such. What about the bars, pubs, clubs that don’t sell food? Well, they rock all year long. If you plan a vacation this year in 2010 and Hilton Head Island is on your list, you will not be disappointed, whether young or old. There is something for everyone. As I type this message, I am 37 years old and enjoy the Hilton Head Island Nightlife. Although I have grown out of the dance clubs, I am greatly influenced by such places as The Electric Piano (EP), The Brick Oven and WiseGuys. Even though they are all uniquely different, they all offer qualities that I like.

Take the Electric Piano in Park Plaza for instance. It is a small lounge setting with different artists each night that they are open. From blues and beach music of Sterlin and Shuvette Colvin to southern country rock of Chris Stevers and Christian Young. Above and beyond the great music, most people are a fan of friendly and quick service. Adam and Kelly Nemitz behind the bar DO NOT disappoint. The Electric Piano has one of the best atmospheres as a live entertainment lounge on Hilton Head Island. You can feel at home wearing jeans and a t-shirt as well as an evening gown or a tux. Did I mention the music plays non stop from 9:30 till 2:00AM? good. Starting in March, reservations are suggested as it fills up early and fast. The Brick Oven is right next to the Electric Piano and offers a grat time as well. The Brick may not be thought of as a Hilton Head Island Nightlife destination but they do have live music on the weekends (Chris Stevers is one of them) and some of the best sit down dinner food one could ask for. It is not uncommon for tourists and locals alike to have dinner at the Brick Oven, prime with some drinks listen to music and flirt back and forth between the Electric Piano and the Brick. It almost seems to good that they are within a stones throw of each other in Park Plaza.

Lets move on to WiseGuys. WiseGuys may not be a Nightlife destination for many but, I will guarantee you that if you start out at happy hour, have some food, a few drinks and socialize…your stay won’t be short. WiseGuys has a huge wine list by the glass or bottle, great martinis, a unique beer list, of course a full bar and food that will make you thank god that your alive. Take chef Russell Keane for instance. He is a culinary GOD! One look at the menu and you want 2 of everything. My personal favorites are WG shrimp and calamari and the lamb lollipops but, that’s just me, the menu is diverse and suitable for everyones liking. WiseGuys does late night and entertainment on the weekends and turns into a fun time. If your new at vacationing here, it’s a great place to start at 5PM. It’s a dim light venue that once you meet the staff, stay for a bit, you’ll be back every evening of your vacation. Big wines, small plates and serious cocktails…yea, they live up to their motto.

I have mentioned a little bit about Hilton Head Island’s Nightlife and will add/elaborate more as the season gets nearer. Until then, be safe and follow the links I have added to my favorite websites as discussed here in.
