By spode. Filed in Hilton Head Island, Vacationing to Hilton Head Island |Well Folks,
Vacation and tourist season is only a month away and starting around February 1st, Hilton Head Island is going to be flooded with the yearly tourists seeking fun in the sun, beach time and sun tans. The smell of tanning lotion will be in the air. In this post, I want to cover the top Hilton Head Island Public Beaches. All public beaches have pay per park slots and usually hovers around $1 per hour. Please abide by the parking rules as you will be ticketed or towed.
Coligny Beach
Coligny Beach is located on Coligny Circle at the end of Pope Avenue on the South end of Hilton Head Island right behind the Holiday Inn Ocean Front. Ample parking can be found directly across the street on S. Forest Beach and can be accessed from Pope Avenue right before The Smokehouse. Handicap Parking can be found around Coligny Circle itself and all is wheelchair accessible. Coligny Beach is very popular and is the #1 beach for toursist due in part to the ever popular Tiki Hut and surrounding restaurants, shopping and gift stores.
Adler Lane
Adler Lane Beach is located just down the road from Coligny Beach on S. Forest Beach Rd. Located next to the Marriott Grand Ocean Resort, it’s almost a hidden gem that only “locals” go to. Limited parking is available at .25 cents per 15 minutes and once your there, be sure to check out Pool Bar Jim’s located behind the Marriott Grand for some of the best fresh fruity drinks on the East coast. The beach itself is usually uncrowded and a great place to relax.
Dreissen Beach Park
Dreissen Beach is located mid Island off of 278 (William Hilton Parkway) on Bradley Beach Rd. A large parking area is available and includes many amenities such as showers, water fountain and vending machines. An easy walk to the beach and is wheelchair accessible.
Folly Field Beach
Folly Field Beach is located at the end of Folly Field Rd. A limited number of parking (50 spaces) are available and is $1/hour. A very quick walk to the beach and has restrooms, showers and a water fountain. At just 100 yards away at the Beach and Tennis Club, there is an outside bar to get food and beverage and sometimes will even have music.
Beach Regulations
Beach regulations are laws put into effect by the town of Hilton Head for your safety and the safety of others around you. (including wildlife).
5: During tourist season from Memorial Day through Labor Day, pets are only allowed on the beach prior to 9AM and after 5PM. Pets will not be allowed during the day. All pets must be on a leash or be able to respond to voice commands very well. Picking up pet waste is a must and comes with a fine if caught. Please dispose of properly. We love pets but, keep our beaches clean.
Have a happy and safe vacation to Hilton Head Island!
