The Beaches Of Hilton Head

Hilton Head Island is one of the most sought after tourist areas in the Southern United States. It is especially popular with those living in the southern United States. It is a very comfortable place to visit and it is a fairly accessible drive from just about any state in the southeast. There is not a lot of hustle and bustle that you might get with the bigger, more commercialized beach vacation spots.
There are about 15 miles of beach area in Hilton Head. There are a handful of popular spots for those wanting to spend some time on the beach. We have only seen a few beaches. For the most part the beaches are easily accessible. They are fairly flat, so if you are someone that likes to walk or run for a biker, early mornings on the beach are a good time for you.
The tides are pretty low in the morning time but they rise fairly quickly as the day progresses. The crowds will get on the beach at around 10 or 11 in the morning. Even at the more crowded times, the beaches were not too crowded. There was plenty of room to do anything you wanted to do without running into anyone. As you would expect the most crowded times were on the weekend, specifically Saturdays. So if you do want to get a good spot on Saturday you may want to get out there a some time earlier.
The last Hilton Head beach we stayed at had just about everything you needed. There were restrooms and places to change. Beach showers were available so you could get the sand off of you when you decided to call it a day. Volleyball courts were available. There were not a lot of nets, so if you wanted to play you would have to grab a court early in the day. They were always being used when we where out there.
There was also a little bar that was a frequented spot later in the evening. It was almost on the hotel property but was not limited to hotel patrons. Anyone could check it out. Drinks were served every night. Live music was aplenty just about every night until about 10 pm or so.
Some of the beaches were more popular than others for bicycles and wildlife. Certain areas around the Sea Pines resort were great places to visit if you wanted to get a glimpse of dolphins or other wildlife. There was a lot of bike traffic in the Sea Pines area. You must pay attention to what you are doing, the people on bikes can come out of nowhere. This is true regardless of whether you are in your car or walking in the Sea Pines area.
I highly recommended a Hilton Head vacation to everyone. We plan on vacationing a lot more there. It is a exceptional visit for the whole family. There are things for kids to do and also things to keep the adults interested. It is even a good time if you want to do nothing but lay back a unwind on the beach for a while.
