Wreck diving is a specific, uneasy, and sometimes even dangerous entertainment. In training system there is a separate course – submersion to a sunken ships (wreck diving).
And if you want something special, wreck-diving will promise you a contact with secrets and adventures.
All the seas have witnessed many ship-wrecks, and their remains became objects of research for divers from every corner of the globe. Some sunken ships rest on reefs and can be easily reached during a one-day trip on a dive-boat.
An extreme diving and one of its varieties – wreck-diving become more and more popular among fans of diving. Sunken ships, reposed in the depths of the sea, keep unsolved secrets and attract more and more people. Sunk ships continue their life under the water.
Except processes of metal oxidation and slow destruction, the new life comes into being. This is a life in symbiosis with underwater inhabitants. Over some years corals begin to occupy surfaces of the ship, fish choose the interstice. There are also a lot of morays and turtles on a sunk ship.

Be it a historical ship, which was gone during a war or a storm, or a usual merchant vessel, sunk to diver’s joy, wreck-diving is something that makes blood of divers boil in the finest sense of the word. It is one of the most dangerous types of diving, especially for those who get inside without special training and equipment.
The first step to safe diving on wracks is the certificate of the entry-level wreck-diver. The majority of dive-schools offer this course. It will give you skills of differentiating the basic dangers, taking place outside the wrack. Among all dangers the most hazardous are total disorientation, sharp metal borders and risk to get enmeshed in scraps of nets and ropes. This initial stage of wreck-diving is also the first step to a more advanced level.
Training submergences are oriented towards potential dangers detection testing. Metal parts of the ship can make your compass almost useless, that’s why you must learn to use natural reference points.
The following level of trainings gives the skills of the limited penetration. Divers of this level (LPD) use traditional equipment for recreational diving.
The majority of diving schools include in term “limited penetration” swimming in simple through parts of wrack where risk to get in a trap is minimal, and a diver can be near naturally shined zone. LPD should not rely upon the light percolating through sidelights and other impenetrable apertures, and always should keep an eye on the input-exit place.
The most dangerous enemy for LPD is a loss of visibility. Pure water inside wrack becomes turbid by little parts of rust, silt and other sediments. That’s why LPDs learn penetration only into premises with wide inputs and, if it is possible, more than with 1 exit.
Full penetration is the most advanced form of wreck-diving and it is an amusement only for divers skilled enough for such submergence.
